AUBURN HILLS, Michigan With the limited run of 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8s now being delivered to customers, Chrysler has priced the full 2009 Challenger lineup for fall, with stickers ranging from just under $22,000 up to $40,000.
The base 2009 Challenger SE starts at $21,995, including a $675 shipping charge. A 250-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 and four-speed automatic transmission are standard. Base model equipment includes 17-inch wheels and tires; power windows, locks and mirrors; air-conditioning; side airbags and a CD player with MP3 capability.
The midlevel 2009 Challenger R/T is priced from $29,995. A 370-hp 5.7-liter Hemi V8 features cylinder-cutoff technology and is mated to a five-speed automatic. The price includes such features as stability control, 18-inch wheels and tires, foglamps and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. The Challenger R/T can be ordered with a $995 Track Pak that bundles a Tremec TR-6060 six-speed manual gearbox with pistol-grip shifter, plus a limited-slip differential, bright pedal covers, performance steering gear and hill-start assist.
The range-topping 2009 Challenger SRT8 carries a sticker of $39,995. The 425-hp 6.1-liter Hemi V8 can be ordered with either a standard five-speed automatic or optional six-speed manual gearbox. New exterior colors for 2009 include High Performance Red and B5 Blue, as well as black hood stripes.
