PARK RIDGE, N.J. After seeing the success of the Shelby Mustang GT-H, Hertz has teamed up with General Motors to add the Chevrolet Corvette ZHZ to its Fun Collection of rental vehicles.
The limited-edition rental car is equipped with the standard 6.2-liter LS3 V8 that makes 436 horsepower, thanks to the optional dual-mode exhaust system. All that power is controlled by a paddle-shifted six-speed automatic transmission, and drivers can select from two driving modes (Tour and Sport) for a customized ride.
Outside, the vehicle is finished with the traditional Hertz yellow and features an exclusive black racing stripe down the middle that starts at the Vette badge on the nose. The ZHZ is also outfitted with 18-inch front and 19-inch rear chrome seven-spoke performance wheels that give it an aggressive look.
Hertz says 500 ZHZ models will find their way to airports in 24 metropolitan cities starting on June 16. The first availability will be at major airport locations, including Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle.
Although the Shelby GT-H Mustang led to a retail derivative, there's no reason to expect the same from the two-year Corvette ZHZ program.
The price to rent a Corvette ZHZ for a day was quoted on the Hertz Web site at $170.49. Full details and reservations can be found at the Hertz Web site.
