SAN DIEGO The Toyota Yaris and the Ford Edge are two of the vehicles singled out for praise in the annual U.S. automobile quality survey by a California research company. Toyota and Ford tied for leading in the most segments in the results released on Wednesday by Strategic Vision.
"Toyota led with its Yaris, 4Runner and Sequoia while Ford led with the Edge, Mustang convertible and F-250/F-350," said Strategic Vision in a statement. The Scion xB and Lexus RX 350 were cited as "additional leaders," along with the Mercury Sable and the Volvo C30.
"Ford is back, establishing its vehicle quality in the hearts and minds of its customers," said Alexander Edwards, president of Strategic Vision's automotive division.
Mercedes-Benz, Honda and Chevrolet each had two leaders: Mercedes with the S-Class and SL, Honda with the Odyssey and Ridgeline, and Chevrolet with the Corvette convertible and a tie with itself in full-size trucks between the Avalanche and the Silverado.
The rankings were drawn from surveys of 20,655 people who purchased new cars in September, October and November of 2007.
