GAYDON, England � Aston Martin said on Monday it will participate in the 2008 ADAC N�ring 24-hour race in late May with a specially modified DBRS9 "to suit the demands of the Nordschleife track."
"With the DBRS9, it is important to emphasize that we are still learning at the N�ring," said David King, Aston Martin's head of production communications and motorsport. "The car has had a very limited testing program, and the competition is fierce."
The DBRS9 is based on the DB9, with tweaks designed to meet GT3 regulations.
Aston Martin said the DBRS9's 6.0-liter V12 is tuned to churn out more than 550 horsepower. Aston Martin will also introduce what it calls a "technically enhanced version of the V8 Vantage N24," which will be driven by the boss, Aston Martin CEO Ulrich Bez, as well as by factory development drivers and journalist Richard Meaden.
"The N�ring 24-hour race continues to be an important part of our engineering development," said Bez. "A number of findings from last year's race have been fed directly back to improve our road cars, and this year we will be subjecting our new improved Vantage N24 to the ultimate test."
