According to industry sources, first-tier motherboard manufacturer MSI recently acquired automobile electronics maker Jovialtek, Inc. to enter into the automobile electronics market and diversify its businesses.
The company is expected to announce its automobile electronics production line during a press conference at Computex 2008.
MSI generated NT $96.22 billion (US $3.12 billion) revenue in 2007, with 19% growth year on year and NT $2.91 billion profit after tax, giving NT $3.07 earnings per share. The company projects 20 million and 25 million units of motherboard shipments in 2008 and 2009, respectively, while laptop shipments will exceed 2 million units.
