WOLFSBURG, Germany Volkswagen has unveiled the endurance-racing version of its new Scirocco. Three factory-prepped Sciroccos are entered in the N?/4rburgring 24 Hours on May 24-25, months ahead of the production model's fall on-sale date.
Two-time Le Mans winner Hans Stuck, who will pilot one of the Sciroccos at the 'Ring, already has tested the racecar and observes: "I felt immediately comfortable in the car," he said. "The Scirocco is one of the most uncomplicated racing cars I have ever driven. It's really fun, and I am looking forward to the 24 Hours on the Nordschleife with even greater anticipation."
Also co-driving one of the factory cars will be Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, VW's board member for technical development, who has presided over such recent developments as the Blue TDI clean diesel and the Up! Microcar.
