Fiat Plans Additional Layoffs
Fiat Auto SpA says it will lay off as many as 1,160 workers at its Mirafiori, Italy, assembly plant from Dec. 6 through Dec. 11 in order to reduce vehicle inventories.

The plant produces the Fiat Multipla, Lancia Thesis, Lancia Lybra, and Alfa Romeo 166.

The announcement comes just weeks after Fiat said it would furlough 4,900 employees at its Melfi, Italy, plant from Nov. 29 through Dec. 4 as a result of high vehicle inventories.
