MUMBAI: Ashok Leyland Ltd, India's second-biggest bus and truck maker, said on Thursday vehicle sales in February fell 7 percent to 7,501 units from 8,036 units a year earlier. Ashok Leyland, which has ventures with Japan's Nissan Motor Co for trucks, engines and technology, said domestic sales fell 7 percent to 6,824 units from 7,353 units in February.
Exports were flat at 677 units compared to 683 units, it said. Ashok Leyland said it had "passed on to customers" from Wednesday, a reduction in the excise duty on buses and chassis to 12 percent from 16 percent in India's annual budget.
