HMIL predicts break-even
Hyundai Motor India Ltd, which has already achieved sales of 53,251 cars in 2000, is hoping to break even sometime this fiscal. HMIL president A P Gandhi said the company was also well on track to achieve the sales target of 78,000 cars apart from an export target of over 5,000 cars this year.

The company had exported its largest consignment of 760 cars to Algeria in July apart from 55 to Bangladesh, 30 to Nepal and nine to Sri Lanka, taking the total exports in July to 854. HMIL will have a dealership network of 100 across the country in another few months with the number of authorized workstations increasing to around 200.

HMIL has already exported 35 cars to Nepal in August. To meet the increasing demand, HMIL plans to get its third shift fully operational in the next few months.
