An anonymous bidder splashed out a record £57,000 for a numberplate that spells 'West Ham' at an auction on Friday.
The plate, WE57 HAM, was sold at a DVLA aution in Bishop's Stortford , where dozens of West Ham fans bid against each other to push the price up to the new record.
The winner bid anonymously over the internet, beating the previous record for a football-related registration, which was £36,000 paid for AR53 NAL in 2004.
