FT. WORTH, Texas, PRNewswire/ -- Intermet Corporation, one of the world's leading manufacturers of cast-metal automotive components, took another step today in the execution of its strategic growth plan by announcing the reorganization of the company's executive team. The moves focus on expanding executive and operational talent in key areas and include:
Troy Jonas has been appointed Group President, Ferrous Group. In this role, Jonas has overall responsibility for all of Intermet's Ferrous metals operations.
Jonas has over 15 years experience in the manufacturing sector with extensive experience in the successful implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma programs throughout his career. Prior to joining Intermet, he held a variety of increasingly responsible leadership positions at Q Investments, Bombardier Aerospace, and Lockheed-Martin.
Steve Lake has been appointed Executive Vice President, Sales and Strategy responsible for Intermet's customer relationships and overall business strategy. In this function, he will play a key role in building the company's top line revenues in the years ahead.
Lake most recently served as President, Domestic Ferrous Group for Intermet where he was responsible for integrating all four domestic ferrous operations into a cohesive group, applying his 24 years of manufacturing and foundry experience. Prior to joining Intermet, Lake served as Chief Executive Officer of Columbus Steel Castings Company, Columbus, Ohio.
Both Jonas and Lake will report directly to Jeff Mihalic, president and chief executive officer, Intermet Corporation.

Both have spent more than six months preparing for their new roles to ensure a seamless transition," said Mihalic. In addition, Eric Showalter, group president, Die Cast Group will be leaving the company October 31, 2007 for personal reasons. In the interim, the Die Cast Group will report directly to Jeff Mihalic until a replacement is named.
