TOKYO Mugen, the fabled Honda tuning house, has pounced on the newly minted 2008 Fit, producing a pocket rocket that won't stretch the pocketbooks of Japanese consumers.
The redesigned Fit literally hits Japanese domestic showrooms this week, and the hot-rod Mugen variants should be right behind it in the queue. A full Mugen RS body kit will cost around $1,750, but many of the parts can be ordered individually from Mugen Motorsport. The RS bundles foglamps, a front apron with revised air intake, side skirts, lip spoiler and chrome exhausts.
A more modest L/G kit includes less ostentatious bumpers and spoilers, and is priced from just over $1,000.
Mugen also offers the usual assortment of go-faster goodies, including brake and suspension upgrades, a sport exhaust system and a modified shifter, plus some nifty gauges and metal pedals.
