| Land Rover extends carbon offset scheme |

Owners of older Land Rovers can now join the firm's carbon offset scheme.
Offsetting allows producers of carbon dioxide to invest in schemes such as tree planting. The trees then absorb the 'greenhouse' gas as they grow.
Land Rover has already pledged to offset the first 45,000 miles of motoring of all vehicles it sells from the 2007 model range onwards.
Now it has extended this scheme so that drivers of older Land Rovers can take part, and owners of 2007 models onwards who exceed 45,000 miles can offset subsequent mileage.
Those who choose to join the scheme will be able to buy packages of 15,000 and 45,000 miles through Climate Care, an independent company that invests in a variety of offsetting projects.
Costs vary from vehicle to vehicle, but prices are typically £40 to £70 per 15,000 miles.
Land Rover owners uncertain of their carbon dioxide output can use an online calculator, which generates a figure based on fuel type, number of cylinders, transmission type and mileage.
