Revolutionary New Industry Rolls into Livonia, Michigan
LIVONIA, Mich., PRNewswire/ -- Encore Tire Recovery will roll into Michigan on Thursday, June 21, 2007 with a convoy of "T2" tire collection vehicles parading along the highways in Southwest Michigan en route to the corporate headquarters located at 12822 Stark Road in Livonia. The mobile shredding vehicle resembles a compactor garbage truck but has the capacity to shred tires at a rate of 500 tires per hour. The revolutionary system turns scrap tires into environmentally friendly end products.

Picture this: 280,000,000 scrap tires discarded throughout the United States. Unwanted scrap tire piles scattered throughout the countryside presenting a serious fire hazard and a breeding environment for disease carrying pests and the West Nile Virus. Scrap tires have been classified a serious environmental nuisance.

Many states and municipalities, frustrated by the refusal of some tire retailers to collect and properly dispose of these man-made products, have enacted laws and ordinances requiring the tire retailers to ensure the appropriate disposal of the used tires. Michigan has enacted a law that places the responsibility of proper tire disposal on the retailer and the law is being strictly enforced. The State of Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) was instrumental in Encore's decision to launch the national venture in the State of Michigan.

Paul Merklinger is the President and CEO of Encore: "The future of scrap tire management begins now." Merklinger will hold a press conference at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the corporate headquarters to introduce the Encore Team, to demonstrate the "T2" vehicle and to launch a nationwide program to clean up the problems associated with scrap tires.
