| MG establishes dedicated ad agency to support re-launch |

Nanjing Automotive is reported to be in negotiations with ‘Room 521’, an agency set up by the Cogent agency’s chairman Bill Husselby, solely to handle the MG brand’s re-launch in the UK. Room 521 will be housed at Nanjing Automotive's Longbridge base and work with MG marketing director Gary Hagan, who joined the company from the US division of Lotus in March.
In January Nanjing said it had set a sales target of 89,000 cars a year across Europe by 2009. This compares with just under 30,000 units at the end of 2004 before MG Rover fell into receivership. It plans to sell 7,000 cars this year, following the launch of a reworked MG TF roadster.
