DaimlerChrysler AG Reports 8 Percent Decrease in U.S. Sales for Passenger Vehicles...
NEW YORK, DaimlerChrysler AG , the third largest U.S. auto maker, today reported total group sales of 191,810 passenger vehicles in the U.S. for February 2007, an 8 percent decrease compared to February 2006. All sales figures in this release are on an unadjusted basis unless otherwise noted.

Chrysler Group, consisting of the Chrysler, Jeep(R) and Dodge brands, posted sales of 174,506 vehicles in the U.S., a decrease of 8 percent. The company's new fuel-efficient vehicles that achieve 30 miles per gallon or better in highway driving continue to generate solid customer interest. The all-new 2008 Dodge Avenger (5,205 units sold in February), Dodge Caliber (9,900 units) and the Jeep Compass (4,071 units); each posted sales increases for the month. Following its most aggressive product launch in company history of 10 all-new vehicles in 2006, Chrysler Group continues its product offensive with the launch of eight all-new vehicles in 2007.

Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) reported sales of 17,304 new vehicles for the month of February. As a group, Mercedes-Benz luxury light trucks (M-, R-, GL- and G-Class) continue their strong performance with a 16 percent increase over February 2006.

Detailed vehicle sales information for MBUSA and Chrysler Group will be announced later today in separate press releases issued by the groups. February 2007 and February 2006 both had 24 selling days.
