NEW DELHI: Leading commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland on Friday said sales in May 2003 went up by 18.45 per cent following increased domestic demand.
The company sold 2,914 units during the month as against 2,460 vehicles a year earlier.
Of this, domestic sales jumped by 20 per cent to 2,726 units with medium duty goods vehicles recording a 26.5 per cent growth at 1,943 units.
But, exports was one unit short of 189 vehicles shipped in May in 2002, a company statement said.
The May 2003 sales stood higher by 79.3 per cent as compared to 1,625 units sold in the previous month.
The company vehicle sales during April-May 2003 was, however, lower by 3.3 percent at 4,540 units.
Ashok Leyland said its multi-axled vehicles, tractors and tippers continued to enjoy good demand.
