Honda Siel Cars India Ltd (Honda) plans to undertake a major dealership expansion programme. A news paper report said that the company will enhance the network of Honda Exclusive Authorised Dealers from the existing 31 to 53 outlets by September 2003.
The expansion of the dealership network will support the company’s marketing objective of selling around 20,000 cars in 2003-04 (including 17,000-18,000 units of City, 2,000 units of Accord and 1,000 units of recently launched CR-V) up from 13,300 units in 2002-03 (12,000 units of City and 1,300 units of Accord), the report said.
Honda’s dealership thrust will be largely in non-metro towns like Nashik, Raipur, Nagpur, Calicut, Thiruvanathapuram and Bhuvneshwar. The company may also add a couple of outlets in metros—it has three outlets in Delhi and two in Mumbai—but these are expected to remain under existing dealer ownerships, the report said.
