Mazda reports strong first-half operating profit rise |
|
Mazda today reported operating profit for its financial first half-year ending in September up 43% to 69.76bn yen ($595 million), with the growth attributed to higher US and European sales volume and a weaker yen offsetting raw materials cost increases and weakening domestic sales.
Net profit for the period was down 12.5% to 27.21 billion yen after a one-off pension-related gain last year, but Mazda has raised its operating forecast for the full year ending 31 March 2007 to 148 billion yen from its earlier estimate of 135 billion yen. Its full year net sales revenue forecast has been raised to 3.15 trillion yen from a previous forecast of 3.10 trillion yen. Net profit for the full year is now forecast at 82 billion yen, up from 75 billion yen before.
