The annual report from the Motor and Allied Trades Benevolent Fund (‘BEN’) shows total income rose to £12.274m from £10.826m the year before, while total expenditure reached £11.628m, against £10.826m in 2004/2005, and created a surplus of £645,514, in place of the 2004/2005 deficit of £399,284.
Overall fundraising income increased by £1 million or 22.0%, from £4.4m in 2004/2005 to £5.4m in 2005/2006. 86% of BEN’s income is devoted to direct charitable expenditure including the provision of nursing and residential centres, the remainder being used to raise more funds.
