Ascari Cars, the tiny British supercar builder, is officially unveiling the production version of its A10 this weekend at the 2006 MPH Show in Birmingham.
Meanwhile, the company has scaled back production plans, which initially called for 50 copies to be hand-built.
Now Ascari says only 10 cars will be manufactured to customer order, with prices starting at $657,750.
The A10, a development of the earlier Ascari KZ1, features new carbon-fiber body panels and a revamped suspension, with power supplied by a BMW-sourced 5.0-liter V8 massaged to deliver 625 horsepower.
Thanks to a relatively low mass of 2646 pounds, the A10 rockets from zero to 60 mph in a mere 2.8 seconds and on to 100 in less than 6 seconds, according to the manufacturer. Top speed is projected at 220 mph.
If you decide to order an A10 for your significant other, be advised that there is a slight extra charge for power locks, windows and mirrors.
