Bajaj Pulsar sales cross 50,000 units
Bajaj Auto has announced that the cumulative sales of its first indigenously developed motorcycle, Pulsar, have crossed 50,000 this month.

The company had launched the Pulsar, available with 150cc and 180cc engine options, in November 2001.

Bajaj Auto has claimed that it has cornered a 70 per cent share in the growing premium bike segment with the Pulsar in the last seven months.

Pulsar sales averaged around 10,000 units for the past two months, but the demand, according to the company, is continuing to grow.

Bajaj Auto is now planning to raise the production of the bike to 20,000 units a month by October, Bajaj Auto said in a release.

R L Ravichandran, vice president (business development and marketing), said, "The Pulsar is gradually being seen as a flagship brand for Bajaj Auto, and this should augur well for consumers across the country."

Bajaj Pulsar is pitted in the premium segment with the likes of TVS Motor Company's 147.5-cc Fiero, Hero Honda's 156.6 cc offering CBZ, Yamaha's 132 cc offerings RX135 and RX-Z models.

Currently, Pulsar 150cc is priced in the Rs 48,900-52,500 range, while the Pulsar 180cc is priced at Rs 57,500 (ex-Mumbai showroom prices).

Bajaj also offers a 175cc cruiser bike, Eliminator, from the stable of Kawasaki, its Japanese collaborator.
