MUNICH - Geiger Cars, the German tuner that specializes in all things American, has an outrageous new package for one of Detroit's most outrageous products, the Hummer H2.
The company has named the modified Hummer Hannibal, after the famous Alps-crossing general of antiquity. The Geiger-modified H2 starts with a supercharged and intercooled version of GM's massive 6.0-liter V8. Geiger gets into the guts of the engine, too, modifying the cylinder heads and fitting a new camshaft, valvetrain, exhaust manifolds and exhaust system. Output jumps to 598 horsepower, and torque climbs to 575 pound-feet. With a modified automatic transmission, Geiger says the conversion will propel the H2 Hannibal from zero to 60 mph in less than 8.5 seconds.
The full engine conversion alone retails for $32,500, with a milder 532-hp version available for $18,700.
Geiger also fits a special suspension that lifts height by 7.1 inches using an auxiliary frame, special front shocks and springs and rear air suspension, plus stiffer stabilizer bars. Geiger adds 38x15.5 R-20 all-terrain tires on three-piece chrome wheels, plus high-performance brakes.
The exterior appearance package includes polished stainless steel protection bars, a chrome grille and roof lights. Geiger says it can trim the cabin "in every possible color and design," while providing such extras as a GPS navigation system and night vision.
The tuner offers the Hannibal on the H2 wagon or SUT models. Prices for the full make-over start at $124,000.
