Pricol JV to offer styling solutions
Pricol Technologies, which provides engineering solutions for the transportation vertical has signed a 50:50 joint venture with the Italian auto-styling manor, Carcerano Srl. CEO, Pricol, Vikram Mohan said the new dispensation will be known as Carcerano Pricol Tech India.

The acquisition is aimed at strategically positioning Pricol as a complete product-life-cycle solution provider to the global transportation industry, particularly the automotive vertical, Mohan said. The company is already at an advanced stage of talks with some auto majors for their new product initiatives.

Art-to-part solutions

Pricol offers product engineering solutions ranging from design, CAD-CAE, prototyping, manufacturing engineering and component production through its group companies in die-casting, injection moulding, powder metal and machining. With the formation of Carcerano-Pricol Tech, the company hopes to offer product styling as part of a larger suite of 'art-to-part' solutions.

Pricol has an engineering and global delivery centre in Coimbatore, sales and project offices throughout India, and in Stuttgart, Germany, and a fully owned subsidiary in Detroit, US.

Piero Carcerano, Founder and President of Carcerano Srl., said, 'The JV between Pricol Tech and Carcerano promises plenty for both partners. The methodology process and the skills of Carcerano - advanced design, style, CAS models, virtual prototype, product engineering, communication - linked to the specific technical skills of Pricol Tech assure a very synergic mix to offer a unique service worldwide.'

Global leader

Headquartered in Turin, the Italian major entered the virtual reality side of the automotive business in 1980. It has been able to establish itself as one of the global leader in the field of automobile design.

With a team of over 120 engineers and a state-of-the-art VR Studio and CAS facility, Carcerano's clientele includes Audi, BMW, Fiat, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Opel, Saab, Suzuki, Bosch, Delphi and Magneti Marelli amongst others.

President and COO, Pricol, AS Ramaseshan, said, 'Our Indian customers will be able to source complete engineering solutions at Indian costs. We plan to offer complete product engineering solution from concept to production, including project management and consulting. With most automotive OEMs going to Italian styling houses for product styling services, the JV hopes to not only offer styling solutions but complete project management.' The JV will have engineers from Italy stationed in India to support customers.
