New high-spec C5 from Citroen
Citroen has added a cheaper, better-equipped trim level to its C5 family car range.

The 110bhp 1.6-litre diesel-only VTX+ is based on the established VTR model from the range, but at £15,095 for a hatchback and £16,195 for the estate it's £1900 cheaper.

Despite the drop in price, extra equipment is fitted, including a colour-screen, voice-activated satellite-navigation system with integrated phone, six-CD changer and metallic paint. Together, the options are worth more than £2000.

Air-conditioning, alloy wheels, cruise control, remote central locking, an alarm, electric windows and seven airbags are also fitted as standard.

Citroen says it won't offer the model with any other incentives, such as its cashback deals, because of the keen pricing of the VTX+.

What Car? Target Price discounts on the VTR are worth around £3800 less than the savings available with the VTX+, so buyers would be doing well if they got dealers to knock more money off the car.

Even so, it may well be worth trying for a few hundred pounds off the list price.
