BEML load haul dumper
BANGALORE: Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) has launched BL15 load haul dumper for deployment in underground mining operations.

A statement issued by the Defence PSU said it already has presence in opencast mining and this was part of BEML's strategy to enter into manufacture of underground mining equipment.

"BEML is poised to enter contract mining by collaborating with private mining companies in the country and a reputed international mining company," the release said.

The Union Minister of State for Coal, Dr Dasari Narayan Rao, unveiled the dumper during the three-day international mining exhibition in Kolkata.

BEML said the load haul dumpers can be deployed in both coal and other metal mines. They are designed to operate in drivage of gallery heading/depillaring sections of underground coal mines and to load mined coal or hard stone.

The tyre-mounted equipment is typically used in horizontal mine areas.

It is designed for a maximum travel speed of 13 kmph and has 37-KW power (525 volts).
