GEICO's General Counsel Charles R. Davies to Retire; Dana Proulx Named as Successor
WASHINGTON, /PRNewswire/ -- Charles R. Davies, senior vice president and general counsel of Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO) and it's affiliated insurance companies, is retiring in early 2006 following 37 years of service with the auto insurer. GEICO's board of directors named Dana Proulx, assistant general counsel, to be his successor.

Davies joined GEICO in 1968 and held positions of increasing responsibility in the office of general counsel. He was appointed vice president and deputy general counsel in 1987. Before becoming senior vice president in 2000, Davies was appointed vice president and general counsel in 1992 and group vice president and general counsel in 1998.

"Chuck Davies," said chairman, president and CEO Tony Nicely, "is going to be truly missed by his colleagues, by his peers and by me. He left a Legacy of integrity, stability and he never failed to help us arrive at the right decisions."

Dana Proulx, CPCU, began his career at GEICO in 1979 in the products and compliance division. He joined GEICO's office of the general counsel in 1992, and ultimately served as senior counsel. Proulx's responsibilities increased as he became assistant vice president and insurance law compliance officer for GEICO in 2001. In 2002, he was named assistant vice president, assistance secretary and assistant general.

"Dana's extensive legal expertise, gained over 25 years with a variety of GEICO companies, makes him the ideal successor to Chuck," noted Nicely. "Dana will have big shoes to fill, but I'm confident that he's more than equal to the task."
