| Travado IBUS School Bus Digital Video Recording System Successfully Being Used |
 |
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.-- --U.S. technology firm National Scientific Corporation in conjunction with Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) in Scottsdale, Arizona today announced the successful installation and deployment of NSC's Travado IBUS(TM) school bus digital video recording system. NSC's Travado IBUS system is capably addressing SUSD's need for enhanced school bus student safety and improved operational efficiency.
Dan Shearer, Transportation Director of Scottsdale Unified School District, said, "We had the standard VCR recording equipment and we found it to be lacking in a number of areas. One major area was the poor quality of the recording. Another concern was the number of times the systems would malfunction and not record properly if at all. If there was an incident that required investigation, an excessive amount of personnel time was required to get the tape from the bus and then find and review the incident."
Shearer continued, "We looked at and talked to several vendors about our requirements, but were unable to find a satisfactory solution until we met NSC. National Scientific delivered a solution that allows us to download quality video directly from a bus onto my PC without ever going near the bus. As we have two remote bus yards, this in itself is a tremendous savings of time and effort alone. And they offered a product that can be easily upgraded to add additional features as the needs arise, such as GPS for route optimization, and passenger logging for knowing who is riding on the bus."
NSC CEO, Michael Grollman, said, "SUSD presented an interesting set of challenges in their requirements and I am glad to say that we have fulfilled them. By combining multiple technologies into one product we have enabled several important benefits to be realized. Our technology simplifies and improves the whole process of recording and managing video and it has the added benefit of being easily upgraded into knowing where the buses are and thus improving routing efficiencies. It can even determine if the correct child is on the correct bus, an especially useful feature for the younger or special needs passenger. Overall I believe that the product we have developed with the real world input from SUSD is superior to anything out there."
NSC President, Graham Clark, commented, "We had an ideal opportunity to listen to the industry during our development of this technology. The input from SUSD and others was invaluable and of great assistance in defining the functionality and usability. Of equal importance was the feedback from the bus distributors and installers. We have designed and built a product than can be installed in about one hour and as we do not require access to it, it can be mounted in virtually any convenient panel space."
Travado IBUS combines digital video recording with WiFi data transmission and optional GPS tracking and student identification into a single, comprehensive, and cost-effective solution. You never need to go out to the bus again to get video. Transmitted automatically via WiFi or cellular, the video recordings can be accessed easily from a PC for convenient viewing on demand.
