| Hot-Blooded 408-Horsepower Volvo XC70 Roars in to SEMA |
 |
IRVINE, Calif. - Volvo Cars of North America will show off the XC70 All Terrain, a highly modified one-off concept with performance and off-road upgrades, at next week's SEMA show in Las Vegas.
The XC70 AT features a 2.5-liter, inline five-cylinder engine from the V70 R wagon that is outfitted with a Garrett turbocharger and software upgrades to boost output from 300 to 408 horsepower at 6,200 rpm. The XC70 AT produces 398 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm.
To take the 2005 XC70's off-road capability to the next level, ipd developed a custom, fully independent air ride suspension with 4 inches of adjustability via dash-mounted buttons. Combined with a 4-inch lift kit, the XC70 AT can ride up to 8 inches higher than the production model.
Volvo skipped its usually subdued Swedish palette, too. The XC70 AT has a brilliant orange and silver paint scheme that the company says "pays homage to the stunning Baja sunsets." Accessories include a generator, a high-lift jack, and a remote exterior battery terminal connection. In the cabin, seats are covered in a black-and-gray neoprene wetsuit material.
What this means to you: The XC70 AT marks Volvo's boldest foray into the SEMA arena yet.
