| Daimler unit to appeal against ruling in MAN case |

FRANKFURT - DaimlerChrysler's over the sale of U.K. truckmaker ERF, Daimler said on Friday.
Its truck unit Freightliner acquired rival Western Star after the latter had disposed of ERF to MAN, which says it promptly uncovered significant accounting irregularities in ERF's books.
"Freighlinter Ltd maintains it is not liable in any respect to MAN, related to Western Star's sale of ERF to MAN in 2000. Freightliner Ltd intends to appeal the decision over the London commercial court," a spokesman for DaimlerChrysler's commercial vehicles division said.
He added that as yet no damages had been assessed, but this was supposed to be done before year's end.
