Ford is cutting prices on a number of Mondeo models, with savings ranging from £595 on the entry-level LX, up to £995 on some Ghia X and Titanium X models.
The company has also introduced a new pricing structure to simplify the process of upgrading spec - a premium of £500-£1000, for example, will upgrade you to a more powerful engine, while £1,000 allows you to step up a trim level e.g. from LX to Zetec.
In addition to the price changes, Ford has also tweaked its 2.2-litre 155bhp turbo diesel engine to comply with Euro IV emissions standards.
The revised unit will be made available with Zetec, Ghia, Ghia X, Titanium, Titanium X and ST models.
It will comprise of a new electrically actuated variable turbocharger, which, apart from being a bit of a mouthful, Ford claims will improve responsiveness and driveability in the lower rev range.
Ford is also introducing a new entry-level 90bhp diesel option, which will also comply with the new Euro IV standards that come into force on January 1st 2006. LX prices for this model will be around £16,300.
The final piece of Mondeo news from Ford is that availability of the special edition Mondeo Silver has been extended into 2006.
Available from £15,680 on the road, features include 16-inch seven-spoke alloy wheels, a multi-function trip computer, a choice of three silver metallic paint jobs and either 1.8-litre petrol or 2.0-litre TDCi diesel engines.
